All along I want to be like MacGyver, I can quickly spell the alphabet in reverse order, my favorite number is 7, I knew what I wanted to do at the age of 14, I love sports and always try out new things, my favorite food is smoked pork chop and (unfortunately) I love cake and I am scared of crowded nasty ants.
During the warmer months, I enjoy doing different kind of sport activities for workout. It is obvious that my sport shoes are always with me. Besides jogging, bicycling, swimming and hiking, I also like to boulder. I travel as much as possible to get an impression of different countries and cultures and I also like short impromptu city tours. I also like having barbeque with my friends while talking about problems of everyday life and how to solve them. During winter, you probably find me in the mountains as well going skiing or — entirely relaxing in a spa.
Although the majority of the year, you will find me behind a computer screen. I am a passionate and presumably representative 'digital native'. Not only for my professional career working as an IT consultant solving customer's problems, but also in my leisure when creating smart and fancy tools and apps which make at least my life easier.
After working couple of years in a more consulting role, I decided to focus again more on development, innovation topics and the bits and bytes.
As a senior developer within the area of SAP C/4HANA Customer Experience (Commerce, Marketing, Sales & Service, etc.), I am able to combine several business topics with newest technologies such as cloud solutions. With the powerful SAP Commerce Platform, I am also able to develop addition features of the technology of choice. Kind of full-stack development from A for AOP to Z for ZK-framework.
In my role as lead developer in customer projects, I'm responsible for technical topics during project life cycle. Applying Scrum methodology, supporting requirements analysis, driving development (configuration, adaption and customizations), in order to constantly empower our customer to improve — this is my daily business!
Mid of year 2016, I moved to Pegasystems working as a Senior System Architect (SSA) within the EMEA Professional Services department. I primarily work in the insurance and health care area in German-speaking countries. Currently, I work as an SSA in a customer project at a health insurance company in Hamburg.
As a certified SSA, I am responsible for providing overall high-quality consulting services across the whole project life cycle. Thus, I am involved and advise on technical topics in different project phases, starting from elaboration phase and requirement analysis, through development and implementation, test phase and UAT to the final delivery and acceptance by customer and the Go-Life. Nevertheless, the primary focus of SSA responsibilities are development and implementation tasks, programming, UX-Design and unit-testing. Generally, I work within project teams on customer site to ensure that the delivered overall solution based on technical architecture and realization meets customer's vision, requirements and expectations.
Pegasystems' unique software offering – build on the Pega 7 platform – focuses on customer experience improvement, operational efficiency, revenue growth and further strategic applications for common business processes and scenarios. This is being achieved thanks to the powerful and flexible Pega 7 platform enabling unified Business Process Management (BPM) and Case Management, supports Business Rule Engine (BRE) and Customer Relationship Management (CRM), real-time Decision management and Marketing capabilities including the unique Next-Best-Action functionality to provide the best offering for customers and their needs. The innovative Robotics technology (Robotic Process Automation) finally leads to additional automation, optimization and efficiency improvements.
In 2014, I moved from technical support to BPM consulting business within IBM Software Services for WebSphere (ISSW). After building-up product knowledge and being familiar with a wide range of technologies, I currently apply my experiences and skills in customer projects and assignments.
"IBM's global Software Services for WebSphere help clients to become more agile by implementing IBM software solutions to solve technical and business needs of customers, including cloud, mobile, business process management, application integration and development, service-oriented architecture, rules-based business decision management, and more." Within ISSW, my main focus is on Smarter Process Solutions covering business analysis, process modeling and implementation, optimization and more — short BPM. Specifically, my activities range from infrastructural topics (environment and product setup & configuration), customizations through design and process modeling to developing including UI programming. After my study, I started my career at IBM Software Group in the WebSphere Technical Support in Munich.
The support business enables an ideal opportunity to initially improve your skills in products, technologies and services. From technical point of view, you cover a wide area of topics and products, but also learn and understand how components work in-depth. Most of the time you also face critical conditions with customers or with their environments respectively, but you learn how to manage and solve these situations.
While WebSphere and its products is THE brand for Middleware and Application Integration, working in this area also provides an advantage how complex infrastructures, applications, integrated systems and software of different vendors work.
Within the WebSphere brand, I focused on the IBM products WebSphere Application Server, WebSphere Process Server and Business Process Server. From general perspective, business process management (BPM) solutions enable companies and organizations to manage and improve their workflows and business processes. Technically, the WebSphere family provides the engine where these processes live. Integration, interaction, collaboration, automation, governance, process visibility, reporting and others are the buzzwords when talking about BPM.
One of my main activities was to keep customer's environments productive and up-and-running. Additionally, I provided support in regards to installation, configuration and customization of the BPM software product and also their whole IT-solution. All in all, the goal was to give clients a helping hand in all regards.
In the year 2008, I started my dual education programme at the University of Cooperative Education in Mannheim (DHBW Mannheim) in co-operation with IBM Germany.
"The dual programme combines a university course with practical training or work experience with an employer. Unlike part-time courses, in a dual programme the employment and/or training element is an integral part of the course." (Source)
Generally, my study course dealt with computer science subjects, but I focused on the specialization International Business Competence. Thus, not only technical contents were taught, but also project management knowledge, consulting skills and further courses such as intercultural competence. Finally after three years, I successfully graduated with a bachelor degree (B.Sc.).
During that time, I also worked in several departmerns and projects within IBM Germany and Europe. There, I was able to collect experiences in different areas, improve technical and non-technical skills and finally be best prepared for subsequent daily IT-business.
